Urgent Help Needed - Lightroom Unresponsive

I edit in mass quantities, but this has never been a problem. (1k photos)

For context, I edit based off color codes - yellow is Work In Progress, Green is Completed, Blue is COMPLETED CURRENT work set (set i'm currently working on)

I was and culling photos ( I moved all photos from GREEN to UN COLORED). While doing so, everything became unresponsive so I closed out the app and now the app won't load up now. There were some skeleton photos (no file attached, but preview still lives in LR) but thats the only thing I can see causing this. All my other adobe/computer softwares open fine, it's just lightroom.

PLEASE HELP!!!! I spent the past 4.5 weeks editing for the deliverable this week, cruicial photos are stuck! Photos are not synced so Unistall is not an option

so I closed out the app and now the app won't load up now.

By that do you mean:

  • In LrC, slect /File/Exit (Ok)
  • In LrC, at the top right corner, clicked on the X (Close) (Ok)
  • Down in the Task Manager, the Task Bar, right clicked on the LrC icon, and selected Close Window (Ok if LrC is behaving, not Ok if lrC is misbehaving)
  • Somehow crashed LrC (Not OK)

Have you tried simply restarting your Windows computer. Not a shutdown followed by a turn on, but a simple restart. Like you get when you accomplish a Windows update.

A shutdown will not clear many issues that may be occurring, especially anything in a Kernel. This is sue to Windows default for Fast Startup. That keeps many bits of info alive for a quicker start. A restart on the other hand flushes that all out.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/multiple-adobe-processes-preventing-reinstall/m-p/14551977#M361784. Follow advice in GlodingDs links on this thread for reinstalling with regards to restart of PC during process. Then let it create a new catolouge in a differant location to you present one(might want to copy that and back it up somewhere else just in case before you start). Then once installed hope that you can open your current catalogue and let it test the integrity of the catalogue when you do so. Not sure why these threads have both be dismissed as discussions rather than bugs as I think there is an issue here that needs investigating.

Adding on - whenever I try to open it now, it's stuck as a background processes in task manager.

So close the background process in Task Manager, and then see if it will re-open.
