Seit der Installation der Version 11 stürzt Lightroom Classic kurze Zeit nach dem Start gleich wieder ab. Es werden meistens auch keine Meta-Daten mehr angezeigt.

@@Techdoc, you may need to update your Win system, see the system requirements in the screen capture.

""The minimum system requirements for Lightroom Classic 11.0 have been updated:

  • Windows 10 v1909 or later, or Windows 11.
  • macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later.

Sync Minimum Version

Due to the new Masking feature, the cloud database format has been updated. To continue syncing, you must use Lightroom Classic 10.4 or later.

Lightroom Classic 10.4 still runs on older computers (e.g. Macs released since 2012 as long as they’re running macOS Mojave), and can still sync with the cloud, however Lightroom Classic 10.4 won’t understand any masking adjustments done using the newer mobile apps. Lightroom Classic 11.0 has full sync compatibility for masking.""

Hi Denis,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Maybe I made a mistake by specifying the Windows build number instead of the version number. My version is 21H1 which - if I am not mistaken - is the latest Windows 10 version. And if it comes to Lightroom, I am, of course, talking about the new Lightroom version 11. Version 10.4 worked like a charm ...

In other words, my system is up to date.

Tonight, I found something really strange: I went again through my preferences settings and asked myself what would happen when I switch from my (original) German to the English language. And wow - Lightroom was fast again, and I was even able to re-activate the GPU (without it, display changes were slow). For several hours, Lightroom has not crashed.
It's too early to say that this is a valid workaround, so I will continue to test it. But I'd be more than happy if this would to the trick.

If you have not already done so, I recommend that you post a new discussion in the Bugs section. Bring up your point about language. Clearly a bug.

For the issue concerning metadata, look at a tutorial on the web for what is new in v11, their are several, some are just about metadata, some are just about masking. Both metadata and masking (local adjustments) have huge changes.

One thing about metadata is how to show vs how to edit. Pay attention to the options at the top of the metadata panel.

I have the very same issue on my Windows 10 (build 19043.1288) computer. Lightroom Classic (I suppose it was the latest version, v10.4) worked fine, without any issues.

I updated to v11.0 and was happy to see the new masking functions. But then, on the same day, I had a few crashes with error messages which I sent to Adobe (unfortunately without my email address, if I remember well). But I remember that error message showed an "unknown error", specifying 0x0000264.
Since I experienced more and more crashes, I started v11.0 again, forcing it to created another new catalog on the basis of my old v10.4 catalog. This worked fine for some time, but then I experienced a slow-down of the software (like a memory leak) until it finally crashed, from that time onwards without any error message. The duration I could work with it then became shorter and shorter until sometimes, it did not even start anymore.
I tried many times (with GPU deactivated, deleting preference files etc.), but then I suddenly saw that some display settings like the identity plate, my settings of the toolbar contents etc. were reset to their default values and disappeared. After this, during one of the following restarts the introduction guide screens explaining the workspace panes were displayed again, like after a new install. So it seems that some setting files were lost during the crashes.
Currently, LR will crash very quickly (after less than a minute), even if I create a new catalog again. So I am currently lost.
My feeling is that it has to do with the new masking functions - which otherwise is an excellent improvement.
Any possibility to get this solved very soon?

The first thing that you should try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue.

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-gpu-faq.html#troubleshooting

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

If Lightroom doesn't start correctly the please see "Solution 2" in the document behind the second link.

Troubleshoot GPU issues | Lightroom Classic (adobe.com)

Another step is to try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

If this doesn't help we need more informations about your environment.

Which operating system do you use?

Which version of Lightroom do you use?

Please post the exact version and not only phrases as "recent", "latest" and so on.

Do you get an error message? If yes, please post the exact message or an screenshot.
