Question

Version 14.4 very slow

Since 14.4 all LrC functions have been very slow . In using a simple brush the display of the intended change lags significantly. Generative Removal tool generated error message and I receive frequent error messages that product is still trying to write changes to metadata in XMP. Collectively it is making it very difficult to get any work done. It is not a resource problem with my machine: Apple Studio M2 Max with 64GB memory and running OS15.5. These reported problems did not exist before release of LrC 14.4. Any known remedies?

If you have Automatically write metadata changes itno XMP, then try turning it off

Additionally, please provide a copy of your System Info. You can obtain same from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. Use the Copy button at top right corner of the dialog to capture the info, then paste into your reply.

Hi @defaultfs4vundmg9cg, Welcome to the Lightroom Classic forums! Let's try a few things to fix this issue:

1. Brush Tool Lag: Disable Auto Mask. Enable "Use Smart Previews instead of Originals" in Preferences > Performance.

2. Reset Lightroom Preferences: Please take a look at this Helpx article for steps. https://adobe.ly/3HsQXpA It is recommended that you back up your catalog before resetting preferences. You can take a look at this article for more information:  https://adobe.ly/4dW8vqF.

3. Check Performance: Turn off GPU acceleration in Preferences > Performance. OptCatalogour catalog (File Catalogize Catalog). Clear Camera Raw and Develop caches.

If the issues persist, let us know, and we can try a few other things. As @Ian Lyons recommended, please send along your System Info. Thanks! ^CH
