Question

Video files no longer exporting from Lightroom

I've been uisng LR for a while to apply my photo presets to video clips, as a simple means of getting my photo preset applied to clips for consistency. So applying the preset on import, then exporting the clip to edit in other software.

Now with LR 17.4, when I go to export, the export dialog progress bar apepas in the top left, but there is no progress, nothing happens. It just sticks on 'Export XX files', and wil stay like that for hours or even days with no progress at all. There are no error messages, and when I work through the export dialog box there is no indication that it isn't going to export.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Was a solution ever found? I have had the same issue for well over a year, even on the absolute latest version of LR Classic (15.4.1) and even after creating a fresh catalog. Doesn’t seem to matter what type of video it is (from an iPhone or a Canon R6 MK II) video will not export and makes zero progress and does not report any errors, just simply does nothing.

@digitaloxygen, unless others can reproduce the problem, Adobe usually won’t pay much attention.

1. Please do the LR menu command Help > System Info, click the Copy button in the upper right corner, and paste into your reply here, so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

2. Share a sample video that won’t export. If it’s 47 MB or less, attach it here. Otherwise, upload it to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link here. We can see if the issue is specific to your computer or occurs on other installations.

I should also add I have now updated to LR 14.5, the latest version, and the issue persists. It occurs with any video file MP4, Mov, WMV etc- I can import them no problem, and play them back in library, but they won't export in any format, not even original. Please fix this Adobe! There is little point in being able to add videos to Lightroom if you can't then get them out of Lightroom.

Hi @mijbil250456, what was meant by Test Album was to create a new test collection in Lightroom Classic and try the process in that new collection. You can learn more about Photo Collections here: https://adobe.ly/3WGbbk2. If you continue to experience issues, we can further troubleshoot the problem. Thanks! ^CH

Thabnk you - I tried all that, including installing and reinsatlling the latest versions, but nothing works. It stil won't export any type of  video of any length. The video's import and play in Library with no issues, just won't export, but there is no error message, just nothing happens. I'd really like to get this fixed, as it is completely pointless being able to add video to LR if you can't then get them out afterwards.

Hey, @mijbil250456. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

What exact version of Lightroom and the operating system are you working on? Is this a personal or work (IT-managed) machine?

Has this started after recent updates to the OS? Also, try moving the videos to a new Test album.

- Right-click on the Test Album > Select 'Make Album Available Offline' & try exporting a few images.

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

Hi Sameer, It's version 17.4, Mac os 15.0.1. I can;t tell you if it started specifically with upgrades to either LR or Mac OS. It's a private machine.

I'm not sure what you mean by creating a test album, I've never used albums in Lightroom before? Either way the video files are on a hard drive, not online. Thanks, Robin
