Video Files won't import - "There is a problem with the video file."

Lightroom Classic 12.1 Build [202212072312-d7ab524b]  running on Windows 10.

Lightroom has never had a problem importing videos from our phones and our phones have not changed.  Since the last Lightroom update, videos no longer import.  All videos receive the error "there is a problem with the video file" but the video file has no problems.  There is nothing different from these .mp4 video files than previously imported video files so the issue appears to be with Lightroom.  This is a vanilla Lightroom Classic installation with no plugins.  Please help.

Hello Sameer,  I am importing the video from the computer hard drive.  These are .mp4 videos from our phones (Samsung Android).  They are automatically uploaded to Onedrive and synced to the "Camera Roll" subfolder of my Pictures folder on my computer.  I occasionally import all files and videos from the "Camera Roll" folder into Lightroom.  As of the end of December, video files no longer import and I receive the message "There is a problem with the video file."  The video file is a supported format, plays without issue by several video players, and they appear to be exactly the same videos as I have imported in the past.

Thanks for sharing the details.

Try disabling sync & backup temporarily for OneDrive & if possible, try creating a test video right now & try importing again.
You can also try to move the videos to a 'local-only' folder & try again. Would you be okay with sharing a few sample videos with us? Upload to Creative Cloud files (https://assets.adobe.com/files) and share with me here or via direct message.

Welcome to the Lightroom Classic community. I'll help you figure this out.

What mobile device are you working on & have you changed the cable to connect to the machine? Try these things & let us know how it goes.

 

  • Try to copy the videos to the computer & then try to import them - does this work? If yes, try deleting the mobile device drivers from the computer & try connecting again.
  • If videos don't import from the internal drive, try this: 
    Lightroom Classic uses Camera Raw Plugin for images & DynamicLink for handling video files.
