Video import to LR Classic V6 says "no video frames"

I have imported MP4 files into LR6 on my Windows 11 laptop (and before that) for years.

Today I tried to import some JPG and MP4 files. All of the JPG imported with no issues. All of the MP4 were rejected and the import dialog says "The movie files contain no video frames". If I go to that file in the folder and double-click it plays, so there are frames.

The MP4 were taken on a Samsung S24+ Android smartphone.

I suspect that there is a missing codec or something as I had to add codecs to VLC to play the video.

There is a good general set of codecs at K-Lite and that worked for VLC.

Can I add codecs to LR6? How?

I tried to get around the missing codec by using Handbrake to cconvert the video format to a hopefully more standard (as far as LR6 is concerned) format. Now when I import those videos they still fail, but the message changed to "Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed". What do I do now?
