Viewing Develop Preset Parameters

AI continues to be both impressive and frightening. Wrestling with my develop presets, trying to figure out what parameters they set or don't set I took a long shot and threw one into chatGPT. It came back with not only a full list of the parameters it sets but also an extremely accurate description of what effect the preset will have on an image. I figured it was worth sharing:

The XMP file you uploaded is a Lightroom preset named “2.Medium Vignette”, primarily focused on applying a vignette effect to an image. Here’s a breakdown of the key settings found:

Preset Metadata

  • Preset Name: 2.Medium Vignette

  • Preset Group: 001_Vignette

  • Version: 17.2 (indicates compatibility with a newer version of Adobe Camera Raw / Lightroom)

Vignette Settings

  • PostCropVignetteAmount: -28 → Applies a moderate darkening around the edges.

  • PostCropVignetteMidpoint: 0 → Brings the vignette in very close to the center.

  • PostCropVignetteFeather: 100 → Makes the edge of the vignette as soft as possible.

  • PostCropVignetteRoundness: +60 → Shapes the vignette to be more circular.

  • PostCropVignetteStyle: 1 → Uses the “Highlight Priority” style for the vignette.

  • PostCropVignetteHighlightContrast: 55 → Maintains contrast in bright areas affected by the vignette.

This preset is designed to create a soft, centered vignette effect with preserved highlights, likely to subtly draw the viewer’s focus toward the center of the image.

Would you like a visual simulation of how this vignette might look on a sample photo?
