Virtual copy shows in grid view, but can't retrieve existing original

Mac OS Tahoe 26.1.3(a), Lightroom Classic 15.3….I have one photo in particular that shows a virtual copy and the original is shown in Finder (via Lightroom menu) but still Library view doesn’t show original no matter what I try...as follows:

Restarting Mac, Lightroom, unstacking options, setting all filters to None, synchronising folder and parent folders, Reset in Develop module, copy, relocate  and rename file and reimport (already shows as imported even though it’s a different name), search web and Adobe Lightroom forum.

I now believe it’s a bug, but maybe not wording my issue clearly and not a real tech expert so I admit I’m at a loss - any useful suggestions pointers etc. much appreciated!

    Hello, me again, solved the problem 2 minutes after above post! I found there is a separate tree of photos after trying the import dialogue and unchecking the “Don’t import suspected duplicates” option...perhaps this may help others but...all good :-)

    Hi - thanks for your suggestion! Just posting my problem help me solve it myself...yes the photos were in a different folder tree.

    Have you tried changing your sort order? I’ve had files seemingly disappear but if I changed the sort order to file name or date, then they’d appear as they were there all the time, but just in a different location than I was assuming.
