Question

Weird boxes appear around objects using Enhance and selecting object via masks.

Hi,

 

So I tried to use the Enhance Denoise feature on a RAW photo and this is what it came up with:

 

 

And if it try to select the lighthouse as an object for a mask, my mask looks like this:

 

Lightroom used to be able to handle this easily. What has changed or what am I doing wrong?

Most problems with LR's AI commands are caused by older, buggy graphics drivers. Try updating your graphics driver by going directly to the manufacturer's web site:
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html#solution-4

If that doesn't help, please copy/paste here the entire contents of the LR menu command Help > System Info -- that will let us see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running.

Hi John,

 

Thanks for the suggestions. My laptop is a Lenovo and it is recommended to update your drivers through them and they aren't reporting any updates. Here is the System Info from my Lightroom:

That driver is six months old. You can download the latest driver here:

Your symptoms are most likely caused by bugs in the older driver.

Some of the computer manufacturers do customize the drivers for power management or other reasons, but then they fail to keep up-to-date with the GPU manufacturers' latest drivers (the GPU manufacturers are constantly fixing bugs triggered by AI-driven apps). Some people have reported that they've successfully updated to the GPU manufacturer's driver. 

 

You could download the latest Lenovo driver, try the latest Intel driver, and roll back to the Lenovo driver if you have issues. And/or call Lenovo support (good luck with that).
