Weird issues with adding folders from external SSDs on Lightroom Classic

I am trying to add a folder from an SSD into my catalog, which is also on an SSD. Here are the weird issues I am having:

- When trying to import the folder into a catalog (any catalog, I created a new one to test), Lightroom freezes and nothing happens

- I then went to see what happens if I ADD the entire parent folder the specific folder I want is in, and I was able to succesfully see ALLfolders in the parent folder, INCLUDING the folder I want to add individually

- Moving the specific folder I want to desktop and attempting to add it from there also works

So basically, trying to add the folder individually causes Lightroom to freeze, but adding the whole parent folder its in, or moving it to desktop allows me to see it and add it. I would like to be able to add it from my SSD without adding the entire parent folder. Any help is appreciated
