What is the meaning of a certain icon in the new forum?

What is this icon in the red box in the screen capture below from this thread? I can hover my mouse over the icon and see the names of two people (whose avatar is shown). Why are these two people shown? They did not click on “Like”. They did not respond to this thread. Why are they shown here?

I just tried: they are indeed ‘Likes’, not marking of ‘Best Answer’.

Okay, it seems I have accidentally posted this in the wrong forum, it belongs in “Using the Community”. I was almost certain I was in the “Using the Community” forum when I posted the question, but apparently not. I hope a moderator can move this to the proper forum.

This goes back to a concern that I have about the new forum, that once you scroll down you there is absolutely no indication on the screen about what forum you are in. See

I assume these are two people who marked the post as ‘Best Answer’. The OP and moderators can do that.

    Update: Aren’t these two ‘likes’?

Interesting. If you are correct (and it seems likely you are correct), why would we need to see this on our screen? It doesn’t seem to be useful information to me. This is a major gripe I have with the new forum, that useful information is not presented, and apparently not useful information (to me) is presented.
