Question

When I bulk export in JPG, some of the pictures export in original (RAW).

I import my photos into Lightroom Classic in RAW. My export settings say JPEG, yet recently I noticed when I export multiple, some of them stay in RAW. The end of the file says .jpg, but the file itself is RAW. I did this multiple times, and different pictures would be in RAW, so I know it’s not related to the specific file. In this case, I exported 20 photos and 2-4 were in RAW. I tried exporting 200 photos, and 8 were in RAW.

Screenshot of export settings attached. (Note: When I unchecked Resize to Fit, 15 out of 200 exported in RAW.)

    • First of all, you are exporting as jpg from LrC, so the exported files will be jpg.
    • Second, the file extension is jpg. A raw file cannot have a jpg extension.
    • Third, the files are only a few MB, which confirms that they are not raw files. Raw files are much larger.

You can open these files in other applications (like Photoshop) if you like, to confirm that they are jpgs.
I am not a Mac user, but this seems like a glitch in the Finder.

These files are no doubt jpgs, not raw files.
Just ignore the RAW file type you see in the Mac Finder (?) – it is not correct.

Can you please clarify how you are so confident? It seems like I’m missing something. Is this a Mac problem or a LightroomClassic issue?

Please, post a screenshot showing where these files indicate that they’re raw.

    Please provide some more details.
What makes you think that some of the exported files are raw files?
Are these files 2400 pixels on the long side, or do they have the same pixel dimensions as the original?

The file type is RAW, not jpg. The end of the file name says .jpg, but Type is RAW.

Interestingly enough, when I just uploaded to Dropbox, the same files that show as RAW show as JPEG. Only through the Dropbox upload though; is this a glitch with my laptop or my app?
