Why am I unable to create a new Catalogue in Lightroom?

I have recently been unable to create new catalogues in Lightroom.

I select File > New Catalogue but then I am endlessly given the New Folder option and not the create option.

This is probably really simple and I'm not techy in any respect - all suggestions gratefully received!

Thank you.

Lightroom does that. You have to select or create a folder to store the new catalog in. Usually I have seen that once you create a folder the catalog is created using the same name as the folder name.

LR won't store a catalog in the ROOT of a drive. It has to be in a folder. LR also creates other Subfolders once a catalog is created.

Could also be the drive or folder you are trying to use does not have the proper permissions for your user name to access fully.

I experience the same problem.

When I click on FILE > NEW CATALOGUE  (see screenshot attached) I'm then stuck with this window, where I can keep creating new folders but I am still unable to create a new catalogue.

I am also thankful for any advice and help 🙏

You’ve posted to an ancient thread. It is highly unlikely that the issue described in this thread, though not impossible, is the same one you are currently experiencing. Rather than resurrect an old thread that is seemingly similar, you are better off posting to a new thread with fresh, complete information, including system information, a complete description of the problem, and step-by-step instructions for reproduction.

If the issue is the same, we will merge you back into the appropriate location.

This thread will be locked.

Thank you!

It would help if you showed us a screen capture, and also told us your operating system and exact version NUMBER of Lightroom.

Have you tried clicking on New Folder and then creating the new catalog in the New Folder?
