Why don't LRC profiles work when working from an external hardrive?

I thought my LRC was glitching because I was able to use my presets with set profiles for a minute. Then I updated my LRC and switched to working directly from my external hard drive and realized that I select said presets, I now get "profile missing" under develop profiles. But if I switch to working on a raw file that is on my internal hard drive, the presets work with no issues and I don't get the "profile missing" message.

What's going on and how do I fix this?

What exactly do you mean with "working directly from my external hard drive"? That the raw file is on that external drive? That shouldn't make a difference at all. That the catalog is located on that external drive (as well)? Again that should not make a difference. Profiles are stored on your internal drive, so they should remain available in both cases. Can you manually select the profile?
