Why is LR soooooo sloooooow ?

Why is Adobe Light Room so slow? Simply scrolling through the film strip can take seconds between images. Newly added images can take up to 30 seconds. Stitching is super slow to create panoramas compared to other programs like PTGUI. Simply selecting the crop tool causes the LR screen to go grey and then refresh. Everything I do in LR is slow and I’m constantly waiting on it.

You can see when I navigate between images in the film strip that it takes a long time to display the next image. In some cases 30 seconds. It’s super slow.

This is 13.5.1, but on another machine I have 15.4 and it’s the same thing.

Hey, @bellevue scott. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Lightroom Classic from Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Does this happen with freshly imported images or after you've applied specific edits to the image, such as Lens Corrections?

    As primary steps, try this:

    • Unplug additional displays & use only one by default.
    • Monitor the Activity Monitor for any unexpected read-and-write operations.
    • Are HDR previews enabled for the Library Module? You can disable HDR in the Library module by going to Lightroom Classic > Preferences > Performance > Uncheck 'HDR in Library'.
    • Check this detailed response from our Expert: https://adobe.ly/4g6Cb4j

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!
