Question

Why is the Sync.lrdata file so big?

I have 45000 files synced and the file is almost 5gb. Why so big? I don't understand why it takes so much space, I guess it must contain only the info of the synced files, not the files themselves.

Any idea why that file is so big?

Thanks!

Well 45000 (Forty Five THOUSAND) files is part of the cause. And how many of them are from your phone/pad imported into Lr Mobile?

What files, or folders and file, are in that Sync.lrdata folder.

Please Consider including the following in your question:
Adobe product and version number
Operating system and version number
The full text of any error message (s)
What you were doing when the problem occurred
Screen shots of the problem
Computer hardware, such as CPU; GPU; the amount of RAM; etc

I'm not worried the number is so high. Theyr're all from my hard drive, synced by a lot of small collections and a dozen of bigger ones, with 800-2000 images. Only RAWs from my camera, none of them from iPhone, so Cloud Storage is quite low, near zero. Not a single image lives only in the Cloud.

My account allows me to upload as much as needed, so it's no concers. The only thing that annoys me is only why the file is sooo big, when all the images live in an organized structure of folders by year/month/day in my 6TB hard drive and not on the adobe cloud.

I'd understand it if the file would contain smaller versions of those, but when in the laptop, Lr can read the drive and when in mobile, the drive is not there, but neither the sync.lrdata file and even then I can see the smaller versiones from the mobile app.

Lightroom v10, updated.

MacOS Big Sur beta — not an issue, the file has always been big.

No errors, just a huge file.
