Question

Will a photo delete off the cloud if I delete from Lightroom?

Hi,

I am extremely new to lightroom so please excuse my ignorance but I can't find the answers online.

I'm struggling to understand the saving process of Lightroom and the Cloud.

If I delete a photo off my computer photo library to save storage, it will delete off lightroom, is that correct?

However, if I've saved the edited version of that photo already to my Cloud, that won't delete?

Basically, will photos from the cloud ever delete once I've put them in there (unless done manually of course)?

I am a beginner and am trying to figure out an easy workflow. I was thinking upload photos to photo library, then import to LR, edit, export to cloud.

I am an avid user of Apple icloud but can't get my head around this syncing stuff. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers.

Which exact version of LR are you using? There are 2 for desktop notebook computers.

LR CC which is Cloud Centric and LR Classic CC which is the Traditional version of LR and is based on storing images locally on drives connected to your system.

LR Classic CC also allows you to upload images to the Cloud and sync them with LR CC Mobile for iOS and Android. But only from collections created in LR.

Go to Help ? System Info and paste the first 10 lines from the dialog box that comes up.

Hi, thanks for the prompt response.

I'm using lightroom classic CC, so If I want to save everything automatically to the cloud then I should be using just lightroom CC, is that correct?

If I do that then I dont have to worry about deleting photos off my computer's disk as thy will be stored in the cloud, is that correct?

Here is the copy and pasted info:

Lightroom Classic version: 7.2 [ 1156743 ]

License: Creative Cloud

Language setting: en

Operating system: Mac OS 10

Version: 10.11.6 [15G1611]

Application architecture: x64

Logical processor count: 4

Processor speed: 1.4 GHz

Built-in memory: 4,096.0 MB

Real memory available to Lightroom: 4,096.0 MB

Well yes but if you are using the Photography plan you only have 20GBs of Cloud storage space.

You would need to change your plan. But LR CC, cloud centric LR, doesn't have the same editing functions.

As for Deleting from your computer if you use LR CC then all images are uploaded to the cloud and removed from your drive.

I would suggest you do a Google search on the exact differences between the 2 versions of LR before you make a move from one to the other.
