Question

(Win11) LrC v11.5 Not possible to edit in Photoshop v23.5 directly

I think the problem has come ofter Adope programmes update but have had similar problem before which then dissappeared during a shorter time.

I am not able to import a pic from LR CC into PS for editing in PS. PS starts opening but it freezes directly and sharp restart of computer is needed. I have tried to go back to an older version of both LR and PS without success resolving the problem.

Why this?

PS v 23.5

LrC  CC v 11.5

Computer platform Win 11

Hi there,

Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you with this.

Where are the original images stored for Lightroom Classic? On an external drive or the internal drive? What format of images do you work with? JPEG or RAW?

Apart from the updates of Lightroom & Photoshop, have you recently updated the operating system?

Does Photoshop launch as expected when launched directly from the Creative Cloud app or the desktop?

What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

First, ensure that there are no stale preferences for Photoshop & Lightroom Classic.

Go to the location of the preference folder mentioned below and rename it to backup.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

  • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]
  • Press the Windows > Enter 'Run' > Type %appdata%\Adobe
  • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2022 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2022. old)
  • Try to reset Lightroom Classic's preferences by following the steps in this article (I prefer using method 2): https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html
  • Now launch Photoshop via the Creative Cloud & then launch Lightroom Classic and try Edit in Photoshop again.

Let me know how it goes,

Thanks!

Apart from the updates of Lightroom & Photoshop, have you recently updated the operating system? REPLY: Windows was updated Aug 13. The function to edit in PS directly from LR CC has been working since then - at the latest on Aug 20. LR CC and PS updated on Aug 21 or 22.

Does Photoshop launch as expected when launched directly from the Creative Cloud app or the desktop? REPLY: Yes, it does.

What troubleshooting steps have you already tried? Reinstall older versions of LR and PS.

Forgot to inform you that pictures are stored on an internal drive on the computor and that I am using RAW pic formats for editing in LR and PS.

I am now exporting a PDS format of the edited picture in LR in order to be able to open it in PS for further editing in PS.
