Hi, (newbie here)

  • I have catalog on Macbook
  • I have Photos on External Drive
  • I want to:
    • @ home work in Lightroom Classic with Macbook
    • @ on move work in iPad Pro with Lightroom CC, completely offline having updated/imported everything before leave home

How to do the transition between Classic and CC in a smooth way?

Thank you in advance

Thank you, the possibility to download previews to the device would be a plus.

You can. Tap on the three dots behind an album name, then choose 'Enable Store Locally'. That enables you to work with Lightroom CC on the iPad even when there is no internet connection. The edits will be synched to the cloud as soon as the internet connection is restored.

Hi jchainho,

Do you carry your external hard drive while travelling? If no, then you need to import your images as a smart preview in Lightroom catalog so that you can develop your images without connecting the hard drive to your Macbook.

Once you finish the edits in Lightroom Classic CC and get in touch with a network, turn on the sync which will update everything on the other mobile devices.

Mohit

Hi, thanks but...

I do have smart previews and Lightroom collections, but iPad demands always access to internet to perform any change in the images. That is what I do not understand, why if it was synched before?

Well, you need internet access in order to edit images on mobile devices. You can add images as a smart preview in Lightroom Classic CC for offline editing.
