Question

Workflow from LR to PS is broken

I am having a problem with Photoshop 25.0.0 and Lightroom Classic 12.5. When I edit a picture in Lightroom and then try to open it in Photoshop, the picture does not appear in Photoshop. This only happens if the picture has been edited in Lightroom. If the picture has no Lightroom edits, it opens fine in Photoshop. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both programs, but that did not help. Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

I devoted extra time to understanding what was happening. It became clear that the issue arose when attempting to transfer pictures from Lightroom to Photoshop after using the content-aware heal tool in LR. Rest assured, my computer is equipped with sufficient resources to handle demanding tasks. With a staggering 96 GB of RAM and a spacious 2 TB of available storage space, hardware limitations can be ruled out as the culprit. Powering my creative endeavors is Windows 11 Pro, specifically Version 22H2.

I spent more than two hours on the phone / chat with two Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom experts. They tried several solutions, such as:

- reinstalling both programs
- uninstalling and reinstalling both programs
- installing older versions of both programs

None of these methods solved my problem.

I want to check the log files for Photoshop and Lightroom, but the Adobe experts did not answer me when I asked them. How can I find these files?

hello i have almost the same problem.
when i open a photo in lightroom classic with command E (apple) it opens without problems in Photoshop 2023 (whether edited in lightroom or not).
however, when i switch to photoshop version V 25 (2024), command E opens photoshop V 25 but the photo does not open.
if i drag the (edited) photo from lightroom classic to Photoshop V 25 the raw converter opens and the data from lightroom is not taken over.
now if i want to edit something in Photoshop 25 i have to first open the photo in the old Photoshop version and save it as a tiff and only then open it in Photoshop V25.
which is very tedious 😞 and a horrible workflow!

So the same question for you. Did you uninstall Lightroom Classic and Photoshop 2024, and then reinstall Photoshop 2024 first, and Lightroom Classic after that?

no, for the following 2 reasons:

1. i am working on 2 big projects and don't want to take any risks

2. I had the same problem 1 month ago solved by phone with an adobe employer, then the only solution was downgrade to version 24.7 then it worked again.
the bug was logged according to the employee at adobe but then probably not fixed as we see now.

and let's be honest, we users have to reinstall the whole adobe software with every big release?
its not about your answer it’s a good idead to reinstall everything... but not after every big release jump!

Did you reinstall in the correct order? First reinstall Photoshop and then reinstall Lightroom.

I reinstalled in this order first Photoshop and then Lightroom, and that did not resolve the issue.

Are there any additional files or folders that I need to remove after the uninstallation process? Please advise.

No, just uninstalling and reinstalling in this order solves the issues for most people. No idea why you have this problem, but as edits are sent from Lightroom to Photoshop via Camera Raw (without showing the Camera Raw dialog), that could be where the problem lies. Maybe you should reinstall that too by downloading the installer and installing it manually:
