Working between Classic CC and LR CC

Hi,

On a new build PC, I'd like to start afresh with my LR catalogue.

On the desktop, I'd like to continue using Classic CC primarily, however I'd like to make use of the new LR CC when travelling (e.g on my Microsoft Surface) as it's lighter and runs smoother.

So if I create a new catalogue and import files in Classic CC onto a dedicated hard drive, I can then choose to sync all items to the cloud, making them available in LR CC on my tablet - am I correct here? (I have signed up to the 1TB plan)

The reason I ask is that I tried LRCC on my desktop previously, and despite importing images to it and using the same dedicated drive to store the files locally - when I opened LR Classic CC, the files were not accessible, and it actually downloaded a second copy of the same shoot from the cloud to my desktop - leaving me with two copies of the files on my PC.

Just wanted to check what the cleanest setup and workflow is?
