Question

Working cross on MAC and PC

Hi guys, anyone out there who can tell sth. about his experience working on both ecosystems?

I'm a PC-guy for a very long time, coming from the industrial/constructive/design section and working always on powerful desktop systems. For my gradually growing photography work I'm now considering to invest in a MacBook Pro in order to do some more shootings directly tethered and for (pre-)developing some shots on the go. My main work will still take place in the office and on my workstation, but due to the power of M-Chip and battery the Mac looks very attractive to me.
Am I doing/feeling right? Or do I get problems I never wanted to have...?
Is it easy to combine or mix catalogs and presets that were respectively created on the other system/OS?
Would be very kind if anybody could help me getting on the right track. Thanks in advance!

Both platforms are functionally identical and files are cross-platform.

If you're determined on a laptop, an MBP is probably a safer bet than most Windows laptops, which frankly can be an unholy mess. That's not because of Windows, but what the vendors do to put their brand on it. OS-modifications and "helpful" functions and software that just gets in the way of Photoshop. Dual GPUs is a case in point.

The weak point in any laptop, Mac or otherwise, is the screen. It will never be a match for a good desktop display.

For a stationary desktop system, build your own Windows machine. Not to save money, but to get a rock solid machine to your exact specifications, without any bells and whistles. That's the ultimate workhorse.

(edit - sorry, thought I was in the Photoshop forum, but the points still stand).
