Working face detection

My experience with LR Classic face detection is - unfortunately - abysmal.

• Yes, it detects (most) faces.
• No, it gives not always proposals - even for faces that are shown in sufficient resolution and from people who have been correctly tagged in the catalogue hundreds if not thousands of times. Just a "?" appears.
• Proposals for faces where the hit rate should be 99.99% are often not correct and need manual input.

It is beyond me how in the age of AI and face recognition (China, cough) this feature is almost completely useless in LRC. Is this any better in Lightroom Mobile? If so, can detected and tagged faces be transferred to LRC?
