XMP files won't sync to other Lightroom catalogs

Question

At work, we organize and store pictures via a Lightroom Classic catalog. The catalog is shared via a shared server, that you must connect to before accessing the images in LRC. I upload the raw photos, along with the XMP sidecar files to the Lightroom Classic catalog. On my computer, the pictures show they are edited in the previews and elsewhere. The issue is when my co-workers access the catalog and synchronize folder, the photos appear but they are not edited. Is there are reason the XMPs are not syncing to their computers? Is there an extra step I have to do? Or is this not an LRC problem, but rather a server issue? I'm using a Mac, and so is one other coworker. The other is using Windows.

Hopefully, this makes sense. I'm rather new to this job and have not used Lightroom Classic as a catalog before.

Lightroom Classic Catalogs are not supposed to be run on a shared server. It's okay to have the image files there, but not the catalog file.

If you're running individual catalogs locally, with the image files on a server, you can import files with the XMP and they should show the edits. If Automatically write to XMP is on, they should update immediately, but others would need to read that metadata to see changes. Lightroom Classic is not really designed for multi user use.

Personally I'd be Exporting and Importing catalogs to prevent corruption, but it's not the only workaround.
