Sorry for the delayed response. Since Lightroom Classic 15.5 is now available, could you first update to 15.5 via the Creative Cloud desktop app and check if the issue continues?

If Lightroom Classic still becomes unresponsive when merging people, please help us with a few details:

• Go to Help > System Info > Copy and paste the complete information here.

• Does this happen with every unnamed person you drag onto a named person, or only with particular people/groups?

• Approximately how many photos/faces are associated with the named person you’re merging into?

• Does Lightroom eventually close/crash by itself, or does it remain unresponsive until you force-quit it?
   

If the issue remains reproducible in 15.5, a short screen recording showing People view > dragging an unnamed person onto a named person > Lightroom becoming unresponsive would be particularly helpful.
 

Also, if Lightroom generates a crash report when it terminates, please submit it and include the same email address associated with your Adobe Community account in the crash report so we can help locate it.
 

Please let us know what happens after testing with 15.5. If it still reproduces, we’ll have much better information to investigate it further.
