A 1.5 second lag between clicking on an image and it being shown

Atrocious performance when retouching and editing images, especially when using object select or AI removal.
Even when viewing images, there is a 1.5 second lag between clicking on an image and it being shown.

The performance issue on Lightroom cloud then in turn affect the performance of the PC. I end up often restarting the software, but it doesn’t help. 

I feel like there has been a huge performance downgrade across Adobe software these past few months.

    ​@Claire H. The performance issue is not just on Lightroom, it is on a lot of app.
    Just now on illustrator, I was applying a grain effect to an A1 sized plain object.
    I had to force quit the app because it stopped loading, and when I tried to change windows it glitched out (screenshot attached).

    Hi ​@szymon_5776 , thanks for sending this through. We'd like to see your system info through Lr. Please go to Help > System in Lr or Ps and paste the results. This will provide more comprehensive information about what is happening on your machine.

     

    In the meantime, could you try some of these steps to help improve performance?

    1. Update Software: Ensure that both Lightroom and Illustrator are updated to the latest versions. Updates often include performance enhancements and bug fixes.

    2. Optimize macOS:

      • Manage Fonts: Limit the number of installed fonts to only those necessary. Use a font management utility to help manage fonts effectively, as every installed font consumes RAM.

      • Set Default Printer: Configure a PostScript printer driver as the default printer. Non-PostScript drivers can conflict with Illustrator.

      • Hardware Considerations: If possible, consider upgrading hardware components such as RAM, CPU, or hard drives to improve performance. The faster the processor and the more RAM available, the better Illustrator's performance.

    3. Check for Background Applications: Ensure that no unnecessary applications are running in the background that might consume RAM. Close any applications not in use.

    4. Disk Space Optimization: Make sure there is sufficient disk space available on the hard drive. Illustrator performs best when it can use RAM rather than relying on the hard disk.
