adding photos to Lightroom

Hello to anyone that can help me,

I have just downloaded lightroom from my creative cloud on to a Mac system. However, when I open up the software I am unable to add photos despite clicking on the "+ add photos" button as still instructed to do so.

Can anybody help with this issue please!
