Hi Ellen,

Thanks for reaching out. If you can clarify a few things for me, we can get to the bottom of this.

Could you please share the version of Adobe Lightroom from Help > About Lightroom & the version of macOS on your Mac? What kind of files do you work with? JPEG or RAW?

Did this happen with only recently imported images, or were any older images impacted too?

We can try to recover the original images from Lightroom's local database as a test.

  • Quit Lightroom CC
  • Navigate to the catalog folder.
  • In Mac Finder, go to Pictures. Right-click on Lightroom library.lrlibrary and choose "Show Package Contents."
  • You'll see a folder with a long string of characters for the name. Open that.
  • Find the folder named 'Originals' & carefully copy it to a different location.

This will back up any RAW images in Lightroom that are yet to be synced & currently exist offline. If you have already tried reinstalling Adobe Lightroom, this might not work.

Let us know if this help,

Thanks!
