I did like the last years' AI feature on LR much better. Now I click 'denoise' square and it never works unless I restart LR, 'quit' LR and then open it again. It works then but on the next image I have to do it again. Frustrating.

I’ve seen this happen after recent LR updates. Before restarting the whole app, try this: go to Preferences, Performance, toggle GPU off then back on. It usually gets Denoise working again. If it still repeats, clear the LR cache or reinstall the latest patch because it is likely a bug and not your iMac.
