Android Mobile: stop removing my watched auto import folders

My Import folders keep disappearing, super annoying not getting my photos imported and having to set them up again.

The issue seems to be as straight forward as it is dumb:

If I add another folder to the "watch list" for the auto import feature, every previous folder NOT containing any images at this moment will be removed, if I add a new one.

So whenever I want to add a new folder, I first have to make sure that every other older folder I want to keep, also still contains a raw image file (as I use get raw only).

Super annoying, of course these folders are usually empty, that's what I'm using Lightroom for. Creating a few garbage raw files, putting them in all the folders I want to survice the "add new folder" procedure  and the removing them from Lightroom because the whole point of these was to work around a bug just sucks.

Please get your basic features to work reliable.

Hi @Wurstkrapfen! I totally get how frustrating that must be — thanks for bringing it up.

Could you let us know which version of Lightroom Mobile and Android you’re using? Also, how are you adding folders for auto import? If you could walk us through your workflow in the app, that would really help us understand what’s going on and try to reproduce it on our end. I tested it on my side and it seems to be working fine, so any extra details would be super helpful.

Thanks a lot!

Ok, maybe it's not that easy to reproduce.

As for version, whatever is in the playstore right now and has been for a couple of months/years.

I'm not noticing this for the first time, I am just on a phone again where I can't have it import every raw file right away because I need to do metadata corrections before import. So I can't use the "just import everything you find" option and have to "watch"different folders for the phone camera, wireless connected DSLM and cardreader imports.

And it just annoys me if nothing happens, I go into the autoimport settings just to find a folder that should be active is deactivated again for some reason.

Hey @Wurstkrapfen

Thanks for the added context — that definitely helps.

While it may not be easy to reproduce consistently, it might still be worth sharing a bit more detail:

  • What version of Lightroom Android are you using by launching the Lightroom app, tapping on the sidebar icon (usually three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner. Next, tap on "About Lightroom," and the version number will be displayed at the top of the screen
  • Are the folders on internal storage or an external card?

  • Are you seeing this behavior after app updates, phone restarts, or changes in storage access permissions?

  • Does reactivating the folder work reliably in the short term?

In the meantime, if you happen to spot any pattern regarding when the folders get deactivated, feel free to share—it could help narrow things down.
