Apple photos after migration

I've successfully migrated all my photos to LR CC.  So far so good.   But I still have them also in Apple photos.   I think I should just delete them all (save space) and deactivate apple photos, but want to make sure I am not missing anything.

What did you do with your apple photos library once you converted to LR CC?

Thanks!

Rich

Once you've migrated your photos from Apple Photos to Lightroom there is no longer any need for the Adobe application to access the photos. Therefore, the Apple Photos library is redundant. Personally, I would delete them from your iCloud account, and delete the Apple Photos library file on your computer.

Thanks for the input - that confirmed what I thought.  Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

As a side - one reason that I wanted to switch from apple photos was because for some unknown reason, apple photos would remove photos from my albums.  I don't know why and when this happened.  The photos were still saved, I just had dozens of empty albums scattered across my account.  My conclusion is that apple photos is too much of a black box for me to trust.   Plus the editing functions are pretty bad.

Anyhow, happy that I've made the move to LR.

Hi Rich

Not related to migration, but if you are taking photos with an iPhone they must first go into the photos app. This is an Apple requirement and can’t be bypassed. But once fully syncd in the Lightroom cloud you can delete the files from Photos/Camera Roll. Or make an extra copy to an external hard drive, then delete from the photos app. I connect my iPhone with a standard USB cable and copy the original HEIC files.

I left mine there, although I only had a few Albums.

It can't hurt to have another back up but depends if you need to save space and/or money on your iCloud account.
