Apply presets on import?

Question

I really want to automatically apply a lens correction preset during photo import. While this was possible in Lightroom Classic, this feature appears to be unavailable in the "new" Lightroom as this post from 2017 makes clear, https://community.adobe.com/t5/Lightroom/Apply-Presets-on-import-or-on-many-images/m-p/9440450#M2047. 
 
So if anyone from Adobe is listening, it would sure be nice to add that feature back to Lightroom, or mimimally allow a preset to operate on multiple photos at once. Importing 1000 photos at a time and then having to manually apply the lens correction is truly painful.

I agree it would be great to have this capability. However, here's a workaround:

Edit 1 photo and apply the preset or other settings you need.
In the Edit view, click the three dots choice at the bottom of the tool bar on the right, and pick "Choose edit settings to copy" (Ctrl-Shift-C / Cmd-Shift-C)
Choose the settings that you want to apply to the rest of the photos, and click on "Copy"
Go to Grid view, and select all your photos.
Press Ctrl-Shift-V (Cmd-Shift-V on Mac) to paste the settings to all the images.

This will work. It's slightly cumbersome, but better than applying lens corrections one at a time to every photo.
