Archive local album/photo

When using the new Archive to Local option, the resulting files feature a new date as if being exported, and it should retain the original date. This is a MAJOR issue. You can't change the date of the photos that go into people's archive right after it deletes the files from the cloud.

 

Also, when there aren’t any visible XML/Lightroom files alongside it, it makes it hard to have the confidence that the photos contain the settings. 

 

I really wish you would take more care of designing the local edits features of Lightroom as it is much better overall than LRC. But put the work in.

Are you referring to Capture Date? 

Given the information you've provided, we are not able to reproduce this on our end. Could you provide more details?  Perhaps a sample file that shows the issue?

Hi Rikk,

 

macOS doesn't show the EXIF / Capture Date that Lightroom does, only the Creation Date of the file, so that is what I am referring to. When I download a photo from iCloud or Google Drive, I get the same creation date of the file I originally uploaded. When I tried the Lightroom Archive feature on a photo/album/folder, I get a file that was just created, with a new Creation Date, and therefore I lose my dates in Finder. I understand that perhaps Lightroom displays the Capture Date through EXIF metadata or something, but it is problematic for me to have my original files’ creation date altered.

 

Also, can it be that XMP files are only generated for RAW files and not JPEG? I see my edits through Lightroom, but only some photos have a sidecar XMP. Some of the help documentation on the Adobe site needs an update.

 

I appreciate your reply! I really want a streamlined way of working with Lightroom. I really never liked the old Classic version, but the Local editing seemed somewhat second thought. Although it has been getting better, I always follow the new changes in order to one day make the switch.
