ARW files & LR not working

Hello,

I purchased the Sony A7iii; when I try to import ARW files from my SD to my LR non-classic 2015.9 (Verison 6.3), I get an error pop-up message saying "The file cannot be opened by Lightroom. (1)."

I'm currentlying running Windows 8.1 and cannot update my LR since I don't have Windows 10; however, the price for Windows 10 is $139...Is this what's stopping me from being able to edit ARW files on LR?

I'd prefer to continue to use LR and not other programs (eg. CaptureOne).

According to Adobe, for the A7iii, the Minimum Lightroom CC version required is 1.3 & Minimum Lightroom Classic CC version required is 7.3.

Are you paying for a mobile version of LRCC? The desktop version of LRCC is only compatible with the recent versions of W10.

So LR Classic may be your only option unless you can upgared your Windows OS - see link below.

Do you have a subscription or perpetual licence? If the latter, download LR6.14 from the link below.

I pay for LR CC non classic monthly, so subscription.

I noticed that I'm able to edit my ARW on LR CC classic though (Verison 7.5). How is that I'm able to edit ARW files & use a more updated verison of LR classic on Windows 8.1, but not on LR non-classic?

Thanks
