Hi @Proulx32893992b1e0Welcome to the Lightroom Community! Sorry to hear about this frustration with the constant "mask needs to be updated" issue eating your RAM and causing crashes. Let's try a few things and see if these steps resolve it:

    1. Update Lightroom to the latest version (9.5): a fix for a known issue causing masks to enter an update loop was recently released. Could you make sure all your devices (desktop, mobile) are updated?

    2. Update your GPU drivers: download the latest directly from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel (not through Windows Update). Outdated drivers are a top cause of mask-related crashes.

    3. Test with GPU acceleration off: go to Preferences > Performance, disable "Use Graphics Processor," restart, and see if the crashes stop. If they do, it confirms a driver issue.

    4. If you sync across devices: try pausing sync temporarily (cloud icon → Pause Syncing) and test mask editing. A cross-device sync bug was causing masks to recalculate repeatedly.

    5. Editing order matters: apply masks after lens corrections, crop, and healing. Editing before masking can trigger unnecessary recalculations.

If the issue persists after the update, can you send your system info, a screen recording of the issue, and a numbered list of the exact steps needed to replicate it? You can find your system info by going to Help > System Info, copying and pasting it into a text file, then attaching the file here. Thanks! ^CH
