Question

before on mac lightroom would choose the raw file, but now it chooses the jpeg file

Im having trouble with my files. I shoot in jpeg + raw, and before on mac lightroom would choose the raw file, but now it chooses the jpeg file, and I can't seem to change that. As I said its weird, because on my mac it didn't use to do that, and on my iPhone lightroom chooses the raw file. How do i fix this? I asked the AI, but it doesn't help. When i open preferences and general or import it doesn't give me the option to choose raw file, only if its the camera or adobe settings. I have the latest edition of lightroom and macos sequoia installed.

@Thomas_gl  I notice you are a Mac user. By any chance are your photos being added to the Mac Photos app?

The Mac Photos app hides original files in a (hidden?) Package/Folder and only JPG previews are available to Lightroom.

    Yes they are being added to the fotos app on mac. why would they begin to hide the origional files? Anyhow, how do i find this hidden folder, because I can't seem to find it.

    As you wrote you're using Lightroom and not Lightroom Classic.

    Lightroom (Lr icon) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon)? What version NUMBER?

     

    What do you mean by "lightroom would choose the raw file"? What step in Lightroom is this? Lightroom does not "choose" the file, you choose the file and then Lightroom follows your instructions. Where (what screen, what step) are you talking about?

      Adobe Lightroom (Lr icon) version 8.1. Im sorry for the lack of terminology, but the step is importing the picture (file). When I import the picture(file) either preview or editing, Lightroom doesn't give me the option to edit the raw part of the file if that makes sense, since the file is both jpeg and raw. When I import the picture, it imports it as jpeg, and not raw. I hope was clearer.

      I have restarted adobe lightroom many times, didnt work. Besides that, I can't recall changing or enabling any settings.
