Can no longer import images with Add Photo option.

max user who uses Apple Card reader San disc SD. 
for the past year when I go to add photos it opens and shows what's on the card no issues.  Now it says no images that can be imported were found.  I don't get it.  I can add photos to folder on desk top and open with Lightroom.  Why doesn't the direct to Lightroom import work anymore.
