Can't export unsynced Lightroom Mobile Photos

I have the free version of Lightroom Mobile and have been taking photos for almost two years with no problem when exporting. I just updated to the latest version a week ago and it suddenly does not let me export any photos, saying "Unable to export without sync - The selected item is not synced and cannot be exported while syncing is paused". Sometimes I am able to export, but most of the times I can't. I do not want to sync any photos. I'd appreciate your help!

How did you fix it or do you still need to sync it all the time?

It seems like at some point (possibly a trial?) some photos have synced to the Cloud, with the original being in the Cloud and just a thumbnail or Smart Preview on the device.
Not having a plan and thus cloud storage the device needs the original to export.

That's my guess anyway, but hopefully member of staff (probably Ignacio) will be able to pick this up.
