Can't import to iPad from Canon 5d III

I am running Lightroom CC on my iPad. Latest CC, latest iPadOs, iPad Air 3.

When I connect my Canon EOS 5d III to my iPad using Apple's camera connector, the "Camera" item in the import function remains gray. I can still import from Photos and from files.

When I unplug the iPad and plug in my iPhone (same IOS), I can import from the camera directly into Lightroom CC.

 

Is this a known bug?

 

Any suggestions?

I have the same issue.  Using a 1st Gen iPad Pro and a Fuji X-Pro2 camera.  I can import raw files to my iPhone but not iPad.  I can import the raw images to the Photos app on the ipad, but I cannot import them directly to the LR on the ipad.
