When I go to subtract from a mask, I am not able to click on "Subtract" from the mask. I have to create a mask and invert it from the original.

Lightroom CC Version 8.5.1

Macbook Pro macOS Sequoia 15.6.1

- Apple M4 Max, 64 GB unified memory

It now works. It was when I already had a subject mask and needed to refine the mask using a brush to subtract from the subject. I don't know what changed or happened but it works now.

Hey, @FTAS Content. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need some details about your workflow.

The subtract mask button will not work on an image without a mask; this is by design. To verify this further, you can also try Lightroom on the Web (https://adobe.ly/4mB9csH).

Has this worked for you in the past? Could you record your workflow, or share any reference?

Awaiting to hear from you. Thanks!
