Change "photos on device" sort order - LR Mobile Android

When opening photos on my device to edit, I cannot change the way they're sorted.

When I move photos from my camera onto my phone, they get put into a random order (based on what happened to get transferred off the card first), and thus they get random "date modified" timestamps.

On my phone's files app, this is a non-issue, as I can just tell it to sort by file name. In Lightroom, however, it automatically sorts by date modified. This means that photos taken a fraction of a second apart can sometimes be far apart in the import dialogue.

This is separate from the "Lightroom" tab, which allows sorting by file name, edit date, capture date, etc etc.

Is there a fix/workaround for this?

I have exactly the same issue (on Android). I want to lightroom to access pictures taken by  my phone and also from my SLR, which I transfer to my phone via USB.

LR seems unable to then sort these pictures by something as fundamental as capture date. It uses modified date, which is, frankly, useless as it's set when you transfer files in.

I say fundamental, as Capture Date strikes me as the most useful timestamp when working with imported pictures. Very frustrating.

Wouldn't it be easier to import directly from your camera into Lightroom, rather than by going via your phone's Gallery app first? That way you would have all the Lightroom sort options available.

But if you don't want to do that, perhaps you could try one of the segmentation options, which may force the "Gallery" grid into capture date/time. You should find the segmentation options under the tri-dot icon top right while in the Gallery tab. I'm using an iOS device, but I assume the same segmentation options are available on Android.

Not really. I have an older camera, so I'd be sitting there with a USB plug hanging out of my phone for hours anyways.

Adding/changing segmentation does nothing, as it still just sorts by the last time the file was moved
