Crash during Object Selection when adding to a Mask

Question

This issue has been happening to me since around the last update. When trying to Add an Object to the Mask, Lightroom freezes during Detection of the Object Selection. I've waited several minutes for the Selection to load, it has led to unexpected crashes, or just not making a selection for several minutes and I cancel the process.

Version: 8.5.1 x64 [ 20250821-1548-c6398d5 ] (Aug 21 2025)

Platform: Windows 11

The team has tested similar workflows but hasn’t been able to reproduce the behavior so far, so your input will be very helpful.Could you please confirm a few details for us: • When this happens, does Lightroom actually crash and close, or does it remain frozen in a “not responding” state? • If it crashes, do you see the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog appear? If yes, please submit the report and enter your email ID with which you have logged in to the community so we can track the crash report. • Could you share a short screen recording showing your workflow from the point you start Object Selection to when it freezes or crashes? • Where are the image files you’re working on stored (local SSD, external drive, or network storage)?With these details, we’ll be able to investigate further and pass along specifics to the product team.Best,Anshul Saini
