Crash on camera photo import

Issue:

Lightroom crashes when importing photos from the camera.

Lightroom Version:

Lightroom android, v8.5.2

Phone model:

OPPO Find X3 Neo

Android version:

Android 13 / Color OS 13.1

Issue:

-plug the camera (canon r5) to the phone via USB C, -the lightroom import window appears with photo thumbnails

-wait for the thumbnails to load

-select the photos I want to import.

-From here, lightroom either crashes when I click and select the images, especially if I click and drag from the bottom up.

-Or lightroom crashes when importing the photos (especially if it's getting close/above 1000)

Things I tried so far:

-Clearing the cache

-Restarting the phone

-closing all other apps

-putting the phone on high performance

-allowing 'background activity' for lightroom

(A note: having a star rating system on the import window would really help avoiding the import of thousands of photos)

Sorry I forgot to mention, it doesn't crash all the time, but it's maybe a 30% chance, and increasingly more as I have more photos to import, or as there is more photos on the camera's memory card.

Hey, @john0077. Lightroom needs to copy the full size image in its database before uploading it to the cloud.

The amount of free ram & internal storage on your phone is used for this task. A large batch import can choke the available resources and Android OS can terminate Lightroom under abnormal usage.

Try a smaller batch of images & check how it goes.

As an alternate, you can copy the images to your Phone's internal storage & try importing the images from the internal drive.

Thanks!

I see,

Smaller batches do work better, but workflow wise, it's extremely unpractical.(It literally takes hours)

I feel like there should be safeguards against that kind of crash?

Also, that doesn't explain the issue of lightroom crashing on the selection process, which makes me replug the camera to get to the import window again, and, then lightroom has to load all the thumbnails again, which can take a good 30 minutes. (And that's for everytime I crash before even importing the photos).
