Question

Crop Aspect Ratio doesn't save when quitting

I shoot in 4:3 ratio on my Sony A7R5 but the default size of the sensor is 3:2.

Every time I create a new project, I go to Crop, Reset it and copy the crop settings to all the images so they will be 3:2. Everything is fine until I quit LR and after reopening, the Ratio goes back to 4:3.

This has been happening forever and it’s really a pain.

First of all, there is no way to save a Default Import Preset to include Crop Ratio, which is dumb and second, the Crop tool should at least “remember” the setting it had before quitting.

Talking about crop. I would love to see an AI crop that analyses the image and auto crops it according to subject size. For example, a person or a car or a plate of food.

It would be amazing as a starting point now that Generative Expand is available, it makes sense.

Hey, @ppdix. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll clarify this for you.

You've posted this in Bugs, and it sounds like a feature request. Because, unlike Lightroom Classic, which remembers the last-selected ratio in preferences, LrD does not persist the crop tool's ratio selection across sessions. So, this is by design for now.

You can also paste the crop setting at the beginning of your session to all images, and it will persist across sessions since it's saved to the cloud catalog.

    Thanks!
