Cropping Issues

For the past few days, I have been unable to crop photos in LR CC.  I follow the usual steps, get the unshaded area in the center of the photo just right, hit Enter as I always have. . . and. . . the photo reverts back to its original dimensions.  If  I click on the crop tool again, it shows the photo with the shaded/unshaded portions that I adjusted, but will not remove the other shaded areas.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Is there something that somehow got checked that's not allowing the crop to happen?  I just double checked and LR is up to date on my computer.
