Deleting cloud library while keeping Classic

Question

I'm supporting a user who migrated their Lightroom Classic catalog to Lightroom (cloud) using the recommended procedure but has now decided they prefer Classic. Their original catalog is still intact, and sync is enabled because they were previously syncing collections to Lightroom. We now wish to delete their cloud library (so they can downgrade their subscription) which can be done at lightroom.adobe.com by going to Account Info > Delete Lightroom Library. But I know that certain kinds of syncing happens both ways, and I want to be sure that the user (a) does not lose their Classic catalog; and (b) remains able to have collections sync smart previews from Classic to the cloud. Can I safely delete the cloud library, as described?

If both Lightroom and Lightroom Classic show that syncing is up to date, then yes it should be safe to delete the cloud library. Comparing the All Photos total in Lightroom with the All Synced Photographs total in Classic would be another useful check (though the numbers will not match if the cloud contains any video files, i.e. All Photos total minus the number of videos in the cloud should equal the All Synced Photographs total). If you can't reconcile those totals you may need to do some investigation before deleting the entire cloud library.
