Denoise AI suddenly very slow

Hi,

I’m having a problem with Adobe Lightroom on Windows.

Until recently, the AI Denoise feature worked very quickly for me — processing one nature/wildlife photo usually took only a few seconds.

Now, the same process takes around 3–7 minutes per photo. What’s strange is that Lightroom often shows an estimated remaining time of only 9 seconds, but the actual processing continues for much longer.

Nothing has changed in the way I use the feature, and I’m processing similar RAW files as before.

Could anyone help me figure out what might be causing this?

I would especially like to know if this could be related to:

  • GPU acceleration
  • a recent Lightroom update
  • NVIDIA/AMD graphics driver issues
  • Lightroom cache or preferences
  • Windows or GPU performance settings

I’m using Windows.

Any advice on what settings I should check or how I can diagnose whether Lightroom is actually using my GPU for AI Denoise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for reaching out and reporting this. A jump from ~9 seconds to 3-7 minutes per photo for a single Denoise is significant and strongly suggests that AI processing may have fallen back to CPU from GPU.

     

    Here are some targeted steps to test and see if that helps:

    • Try rolling back to an older Studio driver (e.g., from late 2025 or early 2026). You can find archived drivers at https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/.
    • Setup your NVIDIA GPU for high performance for Adobe Apps: 

       

    • Go to Edit > Preferences > Performance and check:

      • Is "Use GPU" set to Auto or Custom (Full)?
      • Set it to Custom, select everything, then restart the app and observe how long it takes. Afterwards, turn it off, repeat the steps, and check the duration again. This way, you can easily compare the performance and see any improvements.

    Here are a few questions that will help us pinpoint and investigate the issue:

    • Can you copy & paste your system info from Help > System info here?

    • Does Denoise speed improve at all if you use it on a few images in a single session, or is it consistently slow on every image?

    • Do you see any error/ toast or warning dialogs when Denoise starts, even briefly?

    • Are other AI features also affected (e.g., Remove, AI Masking with Select Subject/Sky, Super Resolution), or is it specifically Denoise?

    • Open Task Manager > Performance > GPU while running Denoise on a photo and watch:

      • Does the "3D" or "Compute" GPU engine spike during processing?
      • Or does only your CPU spike to high usage while the GPU stays idle?

    If the GPU stays flat while the CPU maxes out, that confirms the fallback.

    Witaj sorry że po takim czasie ale totalnie mi się ode chciało podchodzić do tego tematu ale jestem już 
    po pierwsze miałem stary sterownik pobrałem nowy nie poprawiła
    po drugie odnosząc się do filmiku nie mam takich opcji jak na tym filmiku się pokazują
    po trzecie w zakładce wydajność mam tą opcje zablokowaną i nie mogę nic  zmienić
