//EDIT//NOTE//

For those members looking at this Discussion. In my reply below, the pertinent part turned out to be how the monitor is connected to the computer. Apparently missing or no GPU.

Graphics Processor Info: DirectX: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 750 (31.0.101.4502)
Graphics Processor Detail: loaded: Yes, supported: Yes, compute: Yes, init: I3_GPU3, hard: success, soft: success, al: No, dl: No

Hmm, memory for GPU not listed.

Ok, that particular controller is perhaps a Integrated Video Controller? As opposed to an actual Discrete

GPU? And has no memory of it's own?

If so, then LrC does not support it for AI and other advanced features that use the GPU.

Model XPS 8940

But is that computer a Desktop as opposed to a Laptop? Does it perhaps have a separate GPU card installed?

Link below specs for that PC (I think) looks like a proper discrete GPU should exist.:

INQUIRY/REQUEST

Can you in Lr, bring up your preferences, and look at the performance tab, and post a screenshot of that? Should look something like:

Ohhh.....

A Odd THOUGHT

How is your monitor connected to your computer? Specifically what port on the back of the computer is it connected to?? A port on the GPU card? Or a video port off the motherboard?

OK. This is intersting.....First:  This is a desktop, not laptop.  Dell tells me that the existing GPU board is descrete - but I am questioning that.  Looking at the computer back, the only monitor connections (I have two) are on the motherboard, based on your picture and mark ups. I do not see any connections on a GPU board, or any pci boards at all.  This has got to be an issue, I am thinking....See picture:

Screenshot as you requested (If I got the right one):

Now, since I started this inquiry, I found info from Dell on compatible GPU cards. It is at: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/xps-8940-desktop/xps-8940-setup-and-specifications/gpu%E2%80%94discrete?guid=guid-d6248aeb-4661-44f3-84d0-9c79f6dcd32c&lang=en-us

Please tell me if I'm getting this wrong - but I think that I need to find the right card and install it.

Adobe's minimum and recommended specs are here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/system-requirements.html

Where do I go from here?  And thank you SO much for the help

Where did you get that computer from?

When?

Did it include a manual?

Because the GPU is clearly not installed. (if it came with one)

I think that at Dell, you can lookup your specific computer based on serial number (ahh, a service tag, should be on a printed label) and see exactly what you got, at links to manuals, drivers, etc.

Could be you have an old and slow GPU. What GPU (and what driver version NUMBER) do you have?

OK, I'm not well versed on this.  All I find in my system info is Intel UHD Graphics 750. I don't even know where to look for the driver info - sorry.  Computer is less than 2 years old however....

Open LightRoom; click Help > System Info..., paste the contents here.

(But with that said, "Intel UHD Graphics 750" is likely to be woefully underpowered for Lr's AI functions, from what I can find out about it.)
