Question

Denoised photos should be added to same albums as original

Summary: When I use the AI denoising feature and it generates a new DNG, the new DNG ought to be added to the same albums as the original. Right now, when I'm going through an album and editing each photo, the new DNG isn't added to the album, which makes it look like Lightroom did nothing because the new file is filtered out.

Version: 8.3

Build: 20250414-1406-5ace587

OS: Windows 11

Camera: Sony A7iii

Photo format: Compressed RAW

Expected result: The denoised version of the photo has all the metadata of the original, including the albums.

Actual result: The denoised photo is not added to the same albums as the original.

Steps to reproduce:

  1.  Add a photo to an album.
  2. Open the Edit tab and click Detail > Noise reduction > Denoise...
  3. In the popup, check "Create stack."
  4. Click Enhance and wait for the denoising to complete.
  5. The new DNG is not visible in the album and is not put into a stack with the current photo.
  6. Go to Recently Added in the left sidebar and see the new DNG that was imported.
  7. Add the new DNG to the album.
  8. Switch the view back to the album. The denoised DNG and the original photo are now in a stack.

I have searched for duplicate posts and did not find any.

I have tested your reproduction instructions on Mac 15.4.1 and Win 11 and cannot replicate this failure.
Check to make sure you don't have any filters set that would prevent the DNG from appearing.

Ah, my mistake. I had the Picked filter applied. It seems that when this filter is applied, the new DNG is shown at the end of the album and not in a stack with the original. Is this intended?
