Question

Disabling cloud uploading in iPadOS lightroom

The uploading of my photos is quite absurd. It uploads all 1000+ RAW photos which destroys my online storage and bandwidth. But what really frustrates me is that it deletes the "originals" so i have to redownload them to edit and export????  This has caused sooooo much downtime waiting for download everytine edit needs to be done.

is there a way to disable this?   Or at the very least let me keep my originals which i imported from my local storage?   Why on earth would it unlink that and make me redownload the uploaded versions?  I can't seem to find the settings for them.

thank you for your help and advices in advance.

Hey @BrianKimskey. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll clarify this for you.

Lightroom Mobile & Lightroom Desktop intelligently clear up the space from your devices once the images have fully synced to the cloud. This is as expected & this can not be disabled for now.

You can selectively tell Lightroom to keep specific albums offline for your usage. Try this in Lightroom iPad:

  • Create a test album in Lightroom and add some of the images.
  • In the Lightroom view, click on the album dropdown menu > Album Name > three dots on the album.
  • Select 'Store locally' (the third option in the screenshot). UI is close to similar on iPad.

  • Use this album for your day-to-day edits.

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!
